Dream Animals

Martin, Emily Winfield. 2013. DREAM ANIMALS: A BEDTIME JOURNEY. Ill. by Emily Winfield Martin. New York: Random House. ISBN 0449810801 [Suggested Grade Levels P - 1]

REVIEW
It’s time for bed and you’re getting sleepy, which dream animal are you going to see tonight?  Maybe you’ll ride a tiger or maybe a narwhale.  Emily Winfield Martin creates a wonderful rhyming book of what adventures could be in your dreams.  The story is soothing as are the pictures.

Martin’s folksy-dreamlike illustrations make this book.  They are adorable and could very well be what dreams look like.  They match up perfectly to the rhymes about dreams and the animals that meet you there to enchant you.  This is a fabulous bedtime story for little ones as they drift off to sleep.

CONNECTIONS
Before reading, ask the children if they dream about animals or adventure.  What are their dreams like?
