This lively, rhythmic, and upbeat book will have children moving their dancing feet. Craig’s witty onomatopoeic descriptions of the animals’ dancing feet along with Brown’s playful illustrations will encourage children to play along in a guessing game of “which animal is dancing next.” Readers can simply chant the cadenced text or sing it to the tune of “I love you” (i.e. The Barney Song) as the ladybug, elephant, ducks, and other animals dance across the printed page in textured illustrations.
CONNECTIONS
During the first reading, allow children to guess each animal before it appears in full. On the second reading, encourage the children to dance as the animals do, imitating the sounds and movements of the creepity, thumpity, stompity. dancing animals.
